Syracuse limps into the tournament with one of their best post players (Arinze Onuaku) and their hot streak put on hold. Onuaku could return for the second round, though, and the Orange should be able to get back on track after losing their last two games. The two seed Kansas State has a tough path in the bottom bracket and the Wildcats have been very inconsistent at times this season.

Wesley Johnson and company look to get back on track in the NCAA tourney.

Syracuse
What a funny world we live in. Two weeks ago, some were saying Syracuse is a national champion type caliber team. Now, some are wondering if they can make it past the Sweet 16. Syracuse is a very, very good team from the best college basketball conference. The Orange play great defense, are well-coached and can score in bunches on the offensive end.

Florida
I was surprised they made the tournament, let alone garner a 10 seed. The Gators were probably deserving of a 12. What's funny about them getting a 10, is I actually am picking them to "upset" BYU in their first round match-up. As I mentioned above, funny world we live in.

(12) UTEP
Last week on radio interviews and in my write-ups, I was claiming UTEP as one of my cinderella dark horses. It's a damn shame they drew a tough fifth-seeded Butler team in the first round ... the Miners deserved a 9 or 10.

Yeah he may look like he's in his 20's but Brad Stevens coaches like he's been doing it for years.

(5) Butler
While, I don't think they will beat Syracuse in a possible Sweet 16 match-up, I do think Butler is being underloved here. The Bulldogs have a very impressive resume and a very solid starting five that could hang with any other team's five in the West region. Beware of the Bulldogs.

(10) Florida over (7) BYU
While I was surprised the Gators were included as one of the 65 teams selected to the tournament, I still think they could win at least a game during their stay. BYU is 4-5 against teams in the NCAA tournament and their head coach (Dave Ross) has never won an NCAA tourney game (0-3). On the other bench, Billy Donovan leads his Gators with a 22-7 tournament record, oh and two national titles.

(13) Murray State over (4) Vanderbilt
The Commodores drew a tough first round opponent in the Racers. Murray State boasts five guys that average 10 points or more (with another that averages 9.5) and they love to run the floor. I think Vanderbilt could have some trouble keeping pace with the Racers.

(12) UTEP (5) Butler
As I mentioned, a week ago I was praising UTEP and telling everyone to watch out for them. Well, they better watch out for Butler. The Miners are very solid, but they haven't played anyone to the caliber of Butler.

(3) Pittsburgh vs. (6) Xavier
A re-match of last year's memorable Sweet 16 match-up, this game would pit one of the nation's best defensive squads (Pitt) with one of its best offensive ones (Xavier). I'm a fan of both program's styles, come second round, it'd be an entertaining game to watch.

Syracuse-Vermont
Okay maybe I'm really reaching here, but who can forget T.J. Sorrentine's 3-pointer from the parking lot to give the Catamounts the upset over #4 seed Syracuse. Well times have changed - and so have the rosters - so Syracuse finally gets its revenge over Vermont.

(1) Syracuse vs. (2) Kansas St.
Hate to go with chalk pick, but I like Syracuse getting to the regional final without any hiccups. Kansas State may have a tough match-up with Pitt or Xavier, but the Wildcats should be in good shape.
